Why do I need the  Trunk Cargo Net?

Is the  Trunk Cargo Net available for all Tesla Models?

Yes. The  Trunk Cargo Net is available for Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y.

Is installation of the  Trunk Cargo Net identical for all Tesla vehicles?

The installation approach is the same, but because the OEM trunk geometry varies across Tesla models, the anchor points for each model are different. The proper location of the anchor points is clearly identified in the  Trunk Cargo Net Installation Instructions.

How difficult is installation?

Installation of the  Trunk Cargo Net is a straightforward DIY project. It requires locating the anchor point locations for your Tesla Model (specified in the Installation Instructions), drilling pilot holes and then attaching the special fasteners using small screws (provided).

Are any tools required?

You will need a Phillips head screw driver, a drill with a 3/32″ (2.5mm) drill bit, and a tape measure.

How many items can I place in the  Trunk Cargo Net?

That depends on the size of the items. You can fit 4 or 5 small grocery bags, or multiple sports items (a football, frisbees, sports shoes, towels, softballs, even baseball bats, etc.) or some combination.

Can the Trunk Cargo Net be repositioned forward in the trunk and used as a barrier to stop larger items placed on the trunk floor from sliding back toward the trunk hatch?

Yes. The Trunk Cargo Net can be positioned for that purpose. Using the same installation approach described in the Installation Instructions, position the cargo net fasteners forward in the location you desire and fasten them in place.

I’ve seen generic versions of this — why should I opt for the  Trunk Cargo Net?

The  Trunk Cargo Net was designed specifically for Tesla vehicles and is guaranteed to fit without difficulty. It uses heavy-duty, high-quality elastic mesh and easy-to-apply fasteners that have been selected to accommodate the special design features and materials used in the Tesla trunk space. Generic versions are one-size-fits-all—except one size doesn’t fit all, doesn’t have appropriate fasteners for Tesla vehicles, and will not properly secure your items. The nets may look the same, but it’s likely they’re made of less durable, light-weight materials, have lower overall quality, and can be very difficult to install properly in a Tesla trunk.
